The laboratory is mainly focused on the central regulatory mechanism of pain and itching, as well as related diseases associated with pain and itching. And our group mainly adopts optical genetics technology, combined with multi-channel in vivo electrophysiology and in vitro brain slice electrophysiology technology, behavior, morphology and pharmacology methods to deal with pain and itch information in cortex; study on the downlink regulation of brain stem monoamine neurons to acute and chronic itching and the neural mechanism of chronic pain and itching as well as the transformation of analgesic antipruritic drugs

1. At the spinal cord level, we first demonstrated that inflammatory factors and chemokines were involved in the regulation of chronic pain by changing the excitability of the dorsal horn neurons (JNS 2008, JNS 2009, Pain 2011), and the role of inflammatory antagonism "Resolvin" in suppressing inflammatory pain and its peripheral and central nervous mechanisms (Nat Med 2010);

2. In the spinal cord center, the new descending regulatory pathway of the anterior cingulate cortex through the dorsal reticular nucleus of the medulla to the dorsal horn of the spinal cord and its facilitating regulation role in the generation and maintenance of chronic pain were demonstrated (EJN 2005).

3. The direct projection of the anterior cingulate cortex to the central lateral nucleus and the plastic regulation of the electrical activity of the thalamus central lateral nucleus pain sensitive neurons have been provided morphological and electrophysiological evidence for the involvement of the anterior cingulate cortex in pain response (BRB 2010).

4. In the aspect of itch, putting forward that the activation of spinal dorsal horn neurons ERK signal takes part in the creation and maintenance of acute and chronic itch for the first time, and it is also proved that pERK signal is involved in regulating pruritus which rely on histamine in the local neural network of the dorsal horn of the spinal cord and chronic itching caused by contact dermatitis (SCI Reps 2015).
